TREE RECOGNITION PROGRAM
A tree of your choice can be planted to commemorate a person, event, etc. All donations are acknowledged with an engraved leaf on the bronze recognition tree located in the Weiss Community Center. An engraved plaque can be installed at the base of the tree upon your request. Call Tom at 847-394-0734 or e-mail him at parks@rtpd.org to make arrangements.
ILLINOIS CORN HAS COME HOME
to River Trails Park District!
In fact, we’re corny nearly every day (comments are really not necessary here. . .) that we drive our truck with its special engine. Nearly all the fuel you put in your car contains 10% ethanol which comes from corn. The engine in this truck is made to run on 85% ethanol! So before you start thinking we spend the first part of our day grinding up corn flakes to get our truck started, we will tell you there are 2 gas stations close by that sell E85 fuel (in Mt. Prospect and Des Plaines). It burns a lot cleaner so it’s easier on our environment, plus it supports in a big way the corn growers of Illinois. So look for the special graphics that will appear on our truck this summer and know that we are another step closer to keeping our planet healthier!
