CDC Announcement May 13, 2021
On Thursday, May 13th, the CDC announced that fully vaccinated people can resume activities without wearing a mask or physically distancing, “except where required by federal, state, local, tribal, or territorial laws, rules, and regulations, including local business and workplace guidance.”
The park district’s COVID-19 protocol is aligned with those of the IDPH (Illinois Department of Public Health). We anticipate adopting our safety protocols accordingly once we receive communications from the Governor’s office allowing us the authority to move to Phase 5.
For those of you who are fully vaccinated, this is very welcome and exciting news. At this time, we are waiting to hear from the state of Illinois regarding their guidelines before we can put any new policies in place that allows vaccinated members to go mask-less at our facilities. Once we get the official wording from the Governor, we will inform our members of how we plan to proceed with masks in the future. Until then, masks will still be required at all times when inside our facilities.
We appreciate your cooperation and patience as we continue to evaluate operations during this transition and look forward to a fully reopened park district as soon as possible.
