Tier 3 Mitigation
As many of you are aware, Governor Prtizker announced that the State of Illinois will be entering into Phase 4 Tier 3 Mitigation effective Friday, November 20th at 12:01 am in an effort to slow the spread of COVID-19. These changes do have a significant impact on our recreational and fitness services. While we cannot predict what the coming weeks and months will bring, we remain hopeful that these mitigation efforts will help and allow us to return to operations at a fuller capacity before long. The health and well-being of our community continues to be our top priority. All decisions on how the District can meet recreational needs will focus first on maintaining public health.
River Trails Programs: Some programs are on an adaptive pause through at least December 3. The District will continue offering programs virtually when able (i.e. dance classes). Please check your email for individual class information and visit RTPD.org for program status.
River Trails Fitness: The River Trails Fitness Center is not closing and we will continue to be available to our membership. We are evaluating the current hours of operation.
Tier 3 mitigations that have been put in place which impact the Fitness Center and exercise classes:
- No indoor group classes
- Face coverings must be worn at all times, including while engaged in individual exercise, regardless of the person or machine spacing
- Locker rooms will be closed
- Operate at no more than 25% capacity
We will be offering the following:
- Personal training will remain available.
- Group fitness, yoga and WeFitU, punch card classes will continue and will be held over zoom.
Kid Squad Connect: Our supervised e-learning program will operate with no changes at this time. We will continue to maintain all recommended safety and capacity guidelines set forth by the State and CDC. See our Kid Squad page for more details.

Outdoor Tennis Courts: Open at Aspen Trails, Sycamore Trails, and Tamarack Trails Parks.
Parks and Playgrounds: All parks are open for walking and jogging. Playgrounds are also open. Please continue to take care of yourself by enjoying our green spaces. Remember to wear face coverings when you are with individuals outside your family. Do not visit our playgrounds or parks if you have tested positive for COVID-19 or if you are feeling ill.
Weiss Community Center: We are evaluating the hours of operation, please check our website for further information. The Weiss Gymnasium is only available for one-on-one trainings/rentals. There is no open gym at this time.
