Message from the Executive Director November 2022
I hope this finds you well.
With your support and participation, we have had a very good 2022! Along with growing our programs and events for the community, we have seen growth in participation in our summer camps, programs, and events. The park district Board and the RTPD staff look forward to a great 2023! As the winter winds on, please know that the River Trails team is continually working to develop outstanding recreational opportunities for you and your family.
We have some exciting upcoming projects expected to start when the weather allows. The Phase One Renewal of Willow Trails Park, with the assistance of a $400,00 IDNR OSLAD (Open Space, Land Acquisition and Development) Grant, will include the redevelopment of the playground, most of the sports courts, and improvement of ADA accessibility, as well as adding fitness stations, a picnic area, and youth game area. We are also repurposing the Tamarack Trails Park tennis courts into six (6) Pickleball courts. We are very excited about both projects. In the meantime, we will develop plans for future improvements of Woodland Trails Park, the Weiss Community Center, and The Zone—Phase Two.
Building Family Unity
We know that families are the cornerstone in promoting well-being and healthy development in children. Families that recreate together tend to be closer and more cohesive and improve their chances of staying together; this is true with parent-child relationships and married couples. Studies continue to show that family bonds grow through the sharing of leisure time. This is always on our minds when we create recreation and event programming for the families in our community—thank you for choosing River Trails Park District.
The River Trails Park District serves both the Prospect Heights and Mount Prospect communities. Don’t miss all the fun events; be sure to Like Us on FaceBook, and follow us on Twitter and TikTok; it’s just that easy.
These are exciting times.
