Prospect Heights, Illinois – The River Trails Park District Board of Commissioners is seeking individuals interested in filling a vacancy on the Board and serving as a Commissioner of the River Trails Park District.
Park Board Commissioners must be residents of the River Trails Park District for no less than one year, a registered voter within the Park District. The Board of Commissioners is a five-member board; each member serves a six-year term. Commissioners are not compensated.
The purpose of a board member is to approve policy; involvement with long-range planning; approve the annual levy and budget while monitoring finances, and serve as a voting member. Board members attend meetings held on the 1st and 3rd Thursday evenings of each month and participate in other Park District activities and events throughout the year.

A Letter of interest and Commissioner Candidate Questionnaire should be submitted as soon as possible. The letter should include your full name, address, phone number, and email address. Please indicate past experiences with the Park District and/or other boards or commissions and why you are interested in serving as a Commissioner. The Board will interview and appoint an individual to fill the vacancy.
The full term is 2021-2027 but the appointed individual will have to run in the April 2023 election as per election law.
